Itinerary

Upon arrival pick up your rental car, and drive to your hotel in the Covington–Newport area. Spend the afternoon exploring Northern Kentucky by visiting Newport on the Levee, a lively entertainment and dining destination or follow the B-Line to experience Northern Kentucky’s bourbon-focused distilleries, bars, and restaurants.
 

Travel from Newport toward Lexington, with an optional stop in Georgetown. Take a tour of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, the largest Toyota production plant in the world or explore the towns equestrian roots at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm (own expense). After arriving in Lexington this evening, explore Lexington’s Distillery District or the dynamic new Greyline Station marketplace.
 

Head to Red River Gorge for outdoor activities such as kayaking in the Gorge Underground (own expense) or hiking at Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Optional side trips include the U.S. 23 Country Music Highway or Hatfield-McCoy sites near Pikeville. End the day in Berea to explore craft shops and enjoy spoonbread at Boone Tavern.
 

Head south to Mt Vernon and visit the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, then continue to Cumberland Falls for stunning views. Optional stops include the Harland Sanders Café or Lake Cumberland. Finish the day in Bowling Green to visit the National Corvette Museum (own expense) and stroll Fountain Square.
 

Depart for Land Between the Lakes, stopping at Casey Jones Distillery in Hopkinsville for a sip of bourbon. In Land Between Lakes, visit the Elk & Bison Prairie (own expense), then dine at Patti’s 1880’s Settlement. Continue to Paducah to see the National Quilt Museum and floodwall murals (own expense).
 

Head to Owensboro for barbecue, bluegrass, and bourbon. Visit the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, Green River Distilling Co., local museums, the botanical garden, and the riverfront, with optional stops at Smothers Park or Reid’s Orchard.
 

Depart of Louisville to tour the Kentucky Derby Museum or Churchill Downs, and explore Whiskey Row attractions such as the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville Slugger Museum, the Frazier History Museum, and the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience (own expenses).
